Walking in the Rain

Well the weather was a bit wet today......I got up and ponder wether or not I wanted to venture out. I had a date with a friend to go out to Rotary Park and walk laps as her toddler ran around the park and us chasing him. We got a good bit of exercise and very damp at the same time.

I realized my wardrobe is ill equipped to stand up to the wet weather......wouldn't I love to review outdoor workout gear.

I figure we walked about 2-3 miles today....I need a decent pedometer that measure miles .

I am planning a funderaiser to auction off local gift certificates in the Waynesboro area. Its alot of work to get it all in motion and then get it advertised for a good turn out.

Click on the Team in Training logo at the left of my blog to support my effort to fundraise for Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I am 17% of the way to my goal of $3000 by Jan 7th.....
Go Team !!!

Getting out more

Well as you can see blogging hasn't taken over my life yet. I have been super busy this past week........working on fundraising . I will be putting together a night of entertainment -ie music with some hordorves and a live auction of donated gift certificates etc. to raise some money and a baked goods silent auction.

It's alot of work to fundraise hopefully I will get more private donations which have been relatively slow and I really appreciate those of you willing to donate....whatever you can afford is one dollar closer to a cure...

I got in a really good walk today with my neighbor , I am garnering the support of friends to drag out on a walk with me...with the weather getting colder it gets more challenging.

I need a new pedometer and some warmer clothes to walk in.

Out hitting the roads

I was out on Thursday morning with a friend for a good walk.....now I just need to make these longer walks a routine.

My First Post

I started this blog to chronicle my training journey as I prepare for my first half marathon at the end of February 2010 just before I turn 50.....wow......I can't believe that number. I will be walking the Disney Princess Half Marathon in Orlando, Florida with my two girls Sarah and Marina. This will be Marina's first Half Marathon as well. This will be a big challenge for me and I look forward to getting more fit each day.

I joined Team in Training with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) just a few weeks ago to raise money for this worthy organization that helps families going through blood cancers.

This is a personal journey for all of us since my dear husband, Paul was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma last fall.

After tandem stem cell transplants at the Huntsman Cancer Hospital in Salt Lake City , Utah he is in complete remission and we are very grateful. He has 7 more months of chemo to go so it not over yet, but things are getting better . There is no cure for Multiple Myeloma.

The LLS supports our family with grants to help pay for the chemo and drugs he must take and provide excellent patient and family support groups.

I have committed to training and fundraising $3000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Someone is diagnosed with a blood cancer every 5 minutes

Every 10 minutes someone will lose their battle with a blood cancer.

The good news is that the survival rates for blood cancers have more than doubled since 1970.

Please donate even $1.00 to help wipe out blood cancers. Saving lives one mile at a time.
